ATLANTIC ROWING CHALLENGE

Squadron Leader Matt Stowers and Flight Lieutenant Mark Jacklin took part in the Atlantic Rowing Challenge which took place at the end of 2003. The Challenge was to row from Tenerife to Barbados, almost 3,000 nautical miles, in no more than 90 days. Whilst taking part in this race, they also raised money for the Philip Green Memorial Trust.

The race started on 19th October and Matt and Mark completed the course although it was outside the 90 days. They also suffered with blisters on their hands. It was a tough challenge for them but they raised a good sum of money for the Trust.

As if rowing the Atlantic were not enough, Mark went on to compete in the Sahara Marathon in April, 2004. This challenge involved running five marathons back to back, a gruelling total of 151 miles in just six days, whilst carrying all the equipment they need on their backs. Again, Mark raised sponsorship money for PGMT.
